As most of you know, August 8, 2006 will mark the one year anniversary since our beloved Nita Mayo went missing. Many of us have agonized over the disappearance of our dear friend. The family would like everyone to know that the searches will continue until she is found. The family is having a plaque made with Nita’s picture and information on it for this dedication ceremony. This plaque will ensure that everyone who visits the pass will see her picture, know her story and be looking for her. Once again we are asking everyone to reach into their heart and maintain that continued kindness and encouragement that you have all shown this family. Matt Taylor, Nita’s son-in-law, will be smoking a 10 to 15 pound beef brisket in hickory chips on August 11th and would like to raffle it off to one lucky winner. Tickets will go on sale today for $5.00 a piece to win this tasty treat. Proceeds from this raffle will help cover the costs for the dedication ceremony and plaque. The tickets will be available at Mt. Grant General Hospital or for more information please call Kris Stinson at 945-2461. |

Joe Fedor has planned to go to the Donnell Vista to conduct a search on the 24th and 25th of June. If there is anyone who would like to help Joe or offer assistance of any type, please contact him at Smokey600@aol.com. If anyone knows of a dog team that would be able to offer Joe assistance that weekend, we would like to hear from you as well. The following is from Joe telling what his plans are: I've been in contact with a few climbing groups, it seems all their calendars are free the weekend of June 24-25, Saturday/Sunday, I'm not sure on the # of climbers yet, so far including myself 4 for sure. Do you have contact with the climbers who were there last year? I would like to get a few of them at least so I know what they did & add their expertise.I would love to fully rule out this cliff area at Donnell, but just the caverns I found at the bottom of some crevices make me think this area has not been thoroughly searched. There are many crevices that angle at the bottom & have large voids at their base, undetectable unless you climb in there. We are trying to get Mike Melson to do a fly over with his plane & take aerial images, then enlarge them & form quadrants to search & mark off as we search. If you have contact with a guy with a search dog, that would be great too. We may see if Tim is free that weekend too, he has a unique flying photographing miniature plane for viewing we can use. |

| Hi, everyone. This is Rick, a producer at America's Most Wanted. As Nita's children know, we are planning to have camera crews in Sonora, Fargo and Hawthorne for the vigil on Thursday. But to include as many of the vigils as possible in our story, we were wondering if we can get a little help from those who will be having prayer vigils in other cities. We are looking for individuals who could use their home video cameras to shoot a few minutes of video at their prayer vigils. This would help us to show the national scope (even INTERNATIONAL scope if we get video from the vigil in England) and show our viewers just how loved Nita is by family, friends and well-wishers -- all gathering to pray at the same time for Nita's return. If you are able to take a few minutes of video for us, please contact me before the vigil (email to rsegall@amw.com or call 847-302-5406). Thanks so much. |

The event that Mom will be part of is an ASA Speed Truck event being held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (the bullring as it is called). June 17th the event will be taped delayed on a channel to be determined (Outdoor Life Network I think?). Cassie Gannis is the newest addition to the program and besides her natural talent as a race car driver she is a great student who is a polite and well mannered young lady with lots of potential on and off the track. Cassie is just fifteen now and we are proud to have her and her family on board. Each team running our program does this without benefit of any monetary relief and at there own expense making it even more valuable to us as they do this out of respect for those many families not knowing where their loved ones are. Cassie will also run there Legend car on Friday night June 16th and Mom will also be present on this race car as well! For more information about the series Nita will be profiled in go to http://www.speedtruck.com/ |
